BREAKER BRIEF
WEEK OF AUGUST 17 TO AUGUST 23, 2026 | BREAKERBRIEF.COM
WECC (Western US reliability)
One comment window closes this week, and it belongs to NERC's cloud services project. Two more comment windows run through late August and into September, and four new items arrived in the last seven days.
The through line: the cloud services window closes first
The week's one hard deadline is 2023-09 Risk Management for Third-Party Cloud Services, whose comment window closes this Friday. It is not traveling alone: comments on 2022-05 Modifications to CIP-008 Reporting Threshold run through late September, and 2025-06 Supply Chain Risk Management is still on the open list. Of the comment windows on the list, the cloud services window closes first.
Closing this week
Friday, August 21: comments close on 2023-09 Risk Management for Third-Party Cloud Services. This is the only window on the list that ends this week.
New this week

The Federal Register carried a Regulatory Agenda, a supplemental notice of the Reliability Technical Conference, and a notice instituting a Section 206 proceeding with a refund effective date for NorthWestern Corporation. FERC also posted issuance 20260811-3092 in watched docket ER25-2438.
