BREAKER BRIEF
WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 7 TO SEPTEMBER 13, 2026 | BREAKERBRIEF.COM
WECC
A quiet week on the Western reliability docket: three items arrived and one comment window closed. The real work now sits in a late September cluster of deadlines.
The through line: late September fills up
Nothing on the WECC list closes this week. What the week did instead was stack the back half of the month: four comment windows land between Wednesday, September 23 and Monday, September 28, close enough together that a reader with more than one of them in scope may want to pick an order now rather than then.
New this week
Three items arrived in the last seven days. Two notices published on September 4: DeepGreen Cook Inlet SPV, LLC's preliminary permit application was accepted for filing, soliciting comments and motions to intervene, and the City of Sturgis, Michigan's application for a temporary variance was likewise accepted, also soliciting comments and motions to intervene. September 2 brought a notice of membership of the Performance Review Board for Senior Executives, confirmation that even senior executives get reviewed.
What moved
The comment window on 2025-01 Canadian-Specific Revisions to EOP-012-3 closed on Monday, August 31. It is the only item to leave the active list this week.
Coming up
Comments by Wednesday, September 23: 2022-05 Modifications to CIP-008 Reporting Threshold.
Comments by Thursday, September 24: two information collection extensions, FERC-725E and FERC-606 and FERC-607.
Comments by Monday, September 28: the FERC-516 information collection on mergers, also an extension.
Comments by Monday, October 26: the FERC-725S information collection and the Standards Processes Manual Revisions under the Modernization of Standard Processes and Procedures Implementation.
The wide view
The still-open list stands at 31 items, from the regional standards work in WECC-0160 on IBR modeling and EMT screening criteria and WECC-0157 on the PRC-006-5 underfrequency load shedding regional variance to a steady run of accepted applications, GreenGenStorage, LLC, Chugach Electric Association, Inc., and DeepGreen Western Passage SPV LLC among them.
